Yubatake, the symbol of Kusatsu, and its surrounding vicinity, are traditional hot spring resort areas with many shops and Japanese style inns. Walk around and enjoy the distinctly Japanese surroundings. Also, a bit further from the town, you can enjoy sports and nature activities.

The water falling from the wooden gutters is overwhelming, and it produces dense steam and sulfur smell.

At "Yukemuri-tei", they enjoy hot springs with clothes on. It's a nice way to talk with other tourists. "Oh, this makes us warm... "

Next, they decide to join "Yumomi" at "Netsu no Yu", the feature of Kusatsu whereby they stir hot water to Kusatsu folk songs. They are surprised at the weight of the paddle.

it's time for hot bath and delicious meal.
4. Stroll along the shopping street
After going around Yubatake, they head for Sai No Kawara-dori for shopping. The street is lined with Japanese style houses which create a traditional ambience. They stroll along eating senbei and fish fresh from oven. There are many nice-looking shops here.

Convenient transportation for getting around town
Circle bus lines ("one-coin" bus)
Circle bus lines The classic design of the car body is very popular. The fare is only 100 yen per ride and hence its nickname is the “one coin Ebus. The most popular route of three is Course A, which covers the main tourist attractions including Yubatake, Sai No Kawara Park, Otaki No Yu, Baelz Onsen Centre etc. (approx. 30 min./round, 8 services/day)

Rickshaws
the special feature of summer Running between Yubatake and Sai No Kawara Park are “onsen-hopping Erickshaws, a unique feature of summer which enhances the atmosphere of the spa resort area. Rickshaws offer a convenient way to look around the area and enjoy onsen-hopping. Historically, people who came for hot springs treatment would also have used them as a means of transportation. Up to two persons can ride a rickshaw.
